Mu Sigma Lambda's Alpha Junior Gents
Alpha Junior Gents utilizes a group of mentoring format targeting disproportionately underserved boys and men of color between the ages 12-18 years (grades 5 through 12) with a primary emphasis "to build character and confidence" among our future leaders and professionals. Specifically, the aim of the program is to provide meaningful life skills to the Alpha Junior Gents in addition to tools required to achieve academic, social and economic success into adulthood.
The ΜΣΛ Chapter Brothers - which include practicing attorney, successful businessmen, educators, artists, entertainers, producers, engineers, physicians, etc. -- and special guests are aware of the unique challenges faced by young people in the community and will serve as session facilitators.
Alpha Junior Gents sessions are held bi-weekly during mot month typically on Saturday afternoons from October through April. Sessions topics and curriculum touch on a wide variety of subject matters, including college preparation, STEM, civic action, personal care, community service, health and wellness, and career planning.
Participation in the Alpha Junior Gents Program is 100% free of charge, but parents/guardians are required to provide transportation to and from sessions which are held 12:30-2:30pm at the Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club, 1339 E12th St, Los Angeles, CA 90059 or Verbum Dei High School. Signups begin at 12:00 noon and lunch will be provided at no cost. Parent/Guardians are welcome to attend all sessions and activities.
We invite you to join Alpha Junior Gents family as a member of its next cohort of young male leaders. Please contact our Alpha Junior Gents Program Manager, Vernon Jackson, for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org
